Dr. Mario Tarquino is an anesthesiologist and staff physician at University Medical Center in Las Vegas. Since 1997, Dr. Mario Tarquino has been a diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA).

The ABA is dedicated to setting and advancing the standards for anesthesiologists in America. The board's primary purpose is creating and administering certification exams for subspecialties within the field of anesthesiology.

The ABA also operates a newly redesigned Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology Program, also known as MOCA 2.0. This program allows board-certified physicians to continually improve their skills and keep their knowledge current.

The program is voluntary for physicians who attained diplomate status prior to 2000 but required for more recent diplomates. Those who have allowed their certification to lapse must complete the recertification process before registering for MOCA 2.0.

MOCA 2.0 participants answer 120 specialty-specific questions each year. Individuals maintaining multiple certifications will answer questions on a greater range of topics. Participants must also complete simulations or other interactive training exercises approximately two times every 10 years.
