Founded in 1993 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, the World Institute of Pain was created to provide a place for experts in pain medicine to gather and help advance and create standards for improved patient care in pain management. The goals of the World Institute of Pain include providing resources and advanced training for pain management professionals along with developing common protocols and outcome studies. The Institute also provides international seminars and hands-on training workshops along with an international exchange of pain providers in various clinics to help gain experience from other pain management practices.
The World Institute of Pain will be hosting its 9th World Congress in Dublin, Ireland, in May 2018. This biennial gathering will feature many leading lecturers in pain management along with some of the latest breakthroughs and scientific programs in the industry.
